Alanasia still follows the Faerunian calendar, (the Harptos calendar) with its tenday week, its thirty day month and its twelve month year (Hammer Alturiak Ches Tarsakh Mirtul Kythorn Flamerule Elsias Eleint Marpenoth Utkar Nightal)
However, the festivals of Midwinter, Greengrass, Midsummer, Highharvestide, Feast of the Moon and Shieldmeet are not kept as they are in the old country. Rather each area and community has chosen to celebrate some of these, ignore others, add some of their own, and change traditional ways of celebration with new local ones.
Greengrass, for example, is celebrated in The Tribal Plains with a two-day peace, a gathering of the tribes, and a large hunting party, where the young members of the tribes are required to earn their right to be counted among the tribe members by killing a tribe totem on their own (so Wolf tribe members kill wolves, Bear tribe members hunt for bears, etc). In contrast, in Blackdeath Greengrass is not celebrated at all, rather the first ship to enter the city’s port after the winter storms have subsided triggers a day of celebration, marked by drinking contests, arena fights, and a boost of “Shipday special prices” deals in the various shops and markets in the city. In Salmonelis the day is celebrated in the traditional fashion, with the more affluent citizens of the city giving flowers to the city’s poorer members. In Shalis the flowers have been replaced by a charity feast, held by the city’s leaders and rich for all the city members.
