Advancing in Guild ranks
Each Faction has seven ranks, each rank has ten levels.
Characters from rank 4 (inclusive) and above receive a weekly stipend from the Guild.
Characters begin Desert Heat at the 5th level of the 2nd rank of their faction.
Each time a character advances to a new rank, they receive a one-time monetary award, a Fine item (of the Faction’s choice, although you can petition for a specific item if you want) and their choice of a contact (Information, Influence or Skill).
To advance in ranks a character must:
- Uphold the CoC of the Guild and behaves as is expected from a Faction
- From rank 5 and above a character can advance from Guild members that he recruited and successfully joined the Faction (reminder: joining a Faction only happens once you hit level 3. Joining the Guild happens in level 1 or at the most 2. So characters who wish to advance in ranks this way must start recruiting new members to the Guild from rank 2 or 3).
Characters may fall in levels (occurs quite often), and may fall in ranks (rarer, but can happen). Characters that fall in ranks must return the equipment and money they received when advancing in ranks, or face punishment from their Faction.
Levels are a way of letting the character know what their current status is with their faction. The pendant that all Guild members wear indicates their Faction, rank and level at all times. Should the character transgress against the CoC, appear to be failing or not advancing fast enough in a group mission then their level will drop.
